Couture Draping Techniques – Draping

This course will relate to the functions and skills needed to utilize couture draping techniques & interpretation for fashion design. It covers draping of basic patterns, bodices, skirts, pants & sleeves. A project on evening dress will be carried out. Introduction of this subject is particularly a compilation of project comprising the theme, research, and initial ideas with the developments and finalizing the ideas. Students will be taught how to develop new creative forms, shapes and textures thus running away from the normal silhouettes. It also creates the needs of creative thinking as well as being able in implementing fashion elements into the work.

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:

i. Basic preparation for draping TOP | BOTTOM | SLEEVE
ii. Knowledge of understanding using the muslin on the maniquen / body form
iii. How to use pining on muslin to creating pattern design
iv. Make a basic dart on draping TOP | BOTTOM |
v. Transfer draping on to the paper pattern
